Sunday Herald Sun - Escape - - DESTINATION FINLAND -

Head north to Meltaus and the exquisite adults-only Hotel Beana Laponia. This working husky farm breeds 18 Alaskan huskies for racing and a highlight of a visit here is the husky safaris which run from two hours to two days (including an overnight stay in a basic wilderness cabin) and take guests around this winter wonderland in a sled.

Visitors are also invited to learn and drive the sled and feed and exercise the dogs.

Other activities include skiing, snow shoeing and a visit to a nearby reindeer farm that breeds 50 reindeers and guests can feed them lichen, before learning how to drive a reindeer sleigh. BEANALAPONIA.FI
