Tasmania has a new hotel built into a former grain store on Launceston’s Tamar River. Fifty-two of the 108 guest rooms at Peppers Silo have been built into the 1960 structure untouched for several decades until the $25 million hotel redevelopment began two years ago. On-site restaurant Grain of the Silos is open to the public and a charming addition is black lab ambassador Archie. A special opening rate is from $199 a night with breakfast and free Wi-Fi. PEPPERS.COM.AU/SILO
