Actor Pia Miller smoulders in our Italian-inspired shoot.

Do not underestimate Pia Miller. (The 32-year-old actor doesn’t pay attention to people who doubt her, anyway.) Having come from a modelling background, she admits some people had certain preconceived ideas about her when she joined the cast of Home and Away in 2014. “Regardless of what people said then [about my acting skills] or will continue to say, I’m just having a go and trying my best,” she says.

Trying her best means tackling some intense storylines. Her character, police officer Katarina Chapman, recently suffered a breakdown, went through a break-up and battled anxiety. Miller doesn’t separate herself from her scenes. “I find the truth in it and I use whatever I have available from my own life to create an honest performance.”

Miller’s personal life revolves around her sons, Isaiah, 13, and Lennox, nine, who she is raising with ex-husband Brad Miller. The couple split in October

last year, but she says they have maintained a strong relationship. “We’ve got an open dialogue when it comes to the boys and we’re working really well together,” she says. “Both of us have the same best interest at heart for them. As long as we have that in common, we will do great.”

Browsing Miller’s Instagram account, it appears that her life is, indeed, great. In between tanned bikini shots and inspirational quotes are loved-up pics of the actor and her film-producer boyfriend, Tyson Mullane. The pair confirmed their relationship with a Valentine’s Day snap earlier this year, and despite Mullane’s photogenic looks, Miller insists she wasn’t attracted to him because of his ability to take a good selfie. “Tyson is very creative and I love seeing what he does with his work,” she says. That’s amore.
