AN­DREJA PE­JIĆ BE­GAN as an an­drog­y­nous model, de­scrib­ing her­self as liv­ing “in be­tween gen­ders”. Pe­jić walked in both the women and men's shows for Jean Paul Gaultier in 2011, be­fore tran­si­tion­ing to a woman in 2014.

While she be­came the first openly trans­gen­der model pro­filed by Vogue in May 2015, Pe­jić says the early pe­riod af­ter her re­as­sign­ment surgery was “one of the most chal­leng­ing of my life, but now my ca­reer is bet­ter than ever”.

Last year Pe­jić landed a cosmetics con­tract with Make Up For Ever and this year re­turned to the Parisian and New York run­ways for H&M and Marc Ja­cobs. “Peo­ple love Aus­tralian mod­els be­cause we keep it real,” she says.
