Sunday Herald Sun - Stellar - - Joe Hildebrand -

According to Robbie Williams – the very candid and entertaining subject of this week’s Q& A – 42 is 1042 in pop-star years. Yes, just as dogs and cats have an accelerated calendar of birthdays, so too do former boy-band pin-ups. But if time is unkind to men in the public eye, it is even less forgiving to women. It is that, along with her flair for accessorising green eye shadow and high heels with a barrister’s wig, that makes 50-year-old Gina Liano an intriguing character. Even if you’ve never seen an episode of her chewing up the scenery on The Real Housewives Of Melbourne, her off-screen ventures suggest she is a departure from the norm. And, as she tells Patrick Carlyon, she probably wouldn’t have agreed to be photographed the way she has for our cover if she was a couple of decades younger – but she recognises the message that striking such a provocative pose can send to other women who refuse to be rendered invisible for daring to grow older.
