SIX LESSONS WE LEARNT FROM... Socialmedia challenges

Sunday Herald Sun - Stellar - - David Campbell - BY MEG MASON

1. Fresh from the internet’s ridiculous crazes division comes “the Mannequin Challenge”, which sees participants freeze in an everyday tableau, which shared on social media. 2. Celebrities have taken it up with gusto. Destiny’s Child reunited to do one, Blac Chyna delivered hers while in labour, and Paul Mccartney (right) gave a 17-second virtuoso performance. 3. Like planking (2011) and the Harlem Shake (2013), there is no actual point to it. 4. One notable exception is 2014’s Ice Bucket Challenge, which raised $152m for motor neurone disease. 5. But not all challenges go viral. Remember the hundred layers of make-up? Or eating a teaspoon of neat cinnamon? No? Exactly. 6. At least this one is better than balancing coins on your collarbone.
