PARISIAN CHIC IS ABOUT KEEPING IT UNDERSTATED AND CLASSIC

Sunday Herald Sun - Stellar - - Q & A -

With its cobblestone streets and fairytale architecture, Paris is undoubtedly the city of love. “It’s also the fashion capital of the world,” says Stellar acting fashion director Marina Afonina, who styled French model Charlotte Coquelin on a picture-perfect day in front of the Place de la Concorde.

When looking for inspiration, Afonina took to the streets: “The shoot was inspired by an It girl in the perfect pair of jeans and a simple striped T-shirt.”

French women are known for not following trends. “Parisian chic is all about keeping it understated and classic,” explains Afonina.

To achieve the look, she turned to French label Sandro Paris, which is launching a flagship store in Sydney later this year. “Its style is very Parisian, so it was easy to get that cool-girl effect.” Afonina chose velvet textures and layered pieces. And she suggests light fabrics and basics when layering in summer. “Try a shirt with a camisole or a ’90s-inspired slip dress on top.”
