EAT A BURGER
Top chefs have realised they can’t make enough money from fine diners and have crowded into the burger world only to find it’s no less competitive. In Melbourne, Shannon Bennett’s Benny Burger is vying with Daniel Wilson’s Huxtaburger and the established greats like my favourite, Andrew’s Hamburgers. It’s the same in Sydney where Neil Perry and his Burger Project is jostling with Warren Turnbull’s Chur Burger in Surry Hills and Mary’s in Newtown (and the CBD). There are loads of great options in Brisbane, too, but it was the burger from Miel Container’s bright red shipping container (CBD and Sunnybank) that impressed the most in a head to head tasting for The Courier Mail last year.
