ED’S LETTER

Sunday Herald Sun - Stellar - - Contents -

If there was any doubt that few things unleash more judgement than a fellow human’s parenting style then those doubts were laid to rest a year ago when Rachael Finch opened up about her family’s babysitting arrangements. Come the weekends, she dared to confess, daughter Violet was cared for by her grandmother so Finch and husband Michael Miziner could spend time alone. The backlash was fierce as self-appointed parenting commentators across the country saw fit to condemn an arrangement that surely concerned no one but the immediate family members involved. When asked my opinion about the furore during a panel discussion on the Today show at the time, I admitted that if I felt anything it was merely jealousy. A weekend sleep-in knowing your beloved child is under the watchful gaze of a doting relative? Sign me up! Having gracefully survived the misplaced outrage directed their way, Finch and Miziner recently welcomed a new baby, Dominic, into the world and proudly unveil their growing – and seriously pictureperfect – family in today’s cover story. Our congratulations to the second-time-around new parents.
