ED’S LETTER

Sunday Herald Sun - Stellar - - Contents -

It’s the classic scene that romantic comedies are made of – the makeover. From the good-girl-turned-vamp renovation Olivia Newton-john undergoes in the final moments of Grease to Julia Roberts’s vamp-turned-good-girl metamorphosis in Pretty Woman, there’s something about a cinematic transformation that both entertains and inspires. Here at Stellar, we are firm believers in the power of a good makeover (seriously, have you ever seen this week’s cover star Lisa Oldfield look better?), but are also of the view that the most fascinating reinventions are more than skin deep. Whether it’s musician Pete Murray admitting that he felt it was time to shake things up and take a new approach to his work, or Corinne Grant’s mid-life career change from comedian to practising lawyer, the courage it takes to reinvent oneself is a recurring theme in today’s issue. As former Olympic swimmer turned mum-of-three Samantha Riley tells Stellar of her new life: “I feel like I’ve done enough and it’s time to move on. It’s good to know when the time is right.” Sarrah
