Explore the hidden gems on southern Italy’s Coast of the Gods.

Between the Amalfi Coast and Sicily lies a 55km coastline largely still a secret to tourists. Named La Costa degli Dei, or the Coast of the Gods, the region is rich in Roman mythology and is home to picturesque towns such as Tropea, where you’ll find friendly people, unspoilt beaches and amazing food.

MINTED

Take time to appreciate the finer things in life at Villa Paola in Tropea, with panoramic ocean views and bursting bougainvillea around every corner. Adventure seekers can take a scuba-diving tour or go parasailing over the stunning Tyrrhenian Sea.

MID

After a few days of lazing by the water, it’s worth venturing further afield. The Aeolian Islands (north of Sicily) are only a boat ride away, so take a day trip to explore the black sand beaches of Vulcano, the boutiques of Panarea or the village of Lipari.

MODEST

Make like a southern Italian and take to the streets after dinner for passegiata. It’s their favourite pastime, completely free and translates as strolling, people watching and gossiping, all at once. A more energetic option is conquering the stairs of Santa Maria dell’isola, a fourth-century monastery perched high on a cliff side that offers 360o views.
