How do you bridge the generation gap? In my household – along with millions of other households around the world – the answer can be found in Star Wars. As a high-heel wearing and non-athletically inclined mum to two superhero-obsessed and karate-kicking boys, it’s not often we find common ground in our preferred entertainment. And it’s rarer still to discover a film that shaped my own childhood as much as it does theirs, some three decades later. But thanks to the renewed fascination in all things Star Wars due to the new trilogy, the original films from the late ’70s and early ’80s continue to enchant Generation Z. All of which makes this week’s cover star, Mark “Luke Skywalker” Hamill, a rare figure who can truly claim to appeal to fans of all ages.
