Secret hunt for new housewives

Sunday Herald Sun - - News -

WITH the pre-Christmas celebrations in full swing eight days ago it was easy for a gathering of bling-tastic, spray-tanned, styled and stylish ladies — and a couple of gents — to escape notice at an upmarket inner-city restaurant.

But these weren’t just any ladies clinking champagne glasses and telling tales. No, these were some of the ladies who have been sounded out as potential additions to the cast for the new season of the Real Housewives of Melbourne.

Foxtel executives quietly slipped into town in the shadows of Christmas Eve to cast an eye over the interested parties at the secret gathering.

“There were some really interesting women, really fun, it was good. Melbourne is full of good talent,’’ a source said.

With Chyka Keebaugh departing the popular reality series following the close of season three, and with one other housewife possibly set to exit the show, Foxtel over the past four months has been quietly looking for one, if not two, potential new darlings.

The series has made stars of Keebaugh, Gina Liano, Gamble Breaux, Pettifleur Berenger, Janet Roach, Jackie Gillies, Susie McLean and Lydia Schiavello.

But one lunch does not make a casting decision.

It is still likely to be well into the new year before any decision is made.

The fourth series will begin filming in March.
