TODAY host

has vowed to grow up and be more responsible, in light of his marriage breakdown.

Stefanovic split from his wife September last year after 21 years of marriage. They have three children.

“Yes I have been quiet, I have been lying low,’’ Stefanovic said.

“There is a lot of stuff to sort out on a personal level, so that is the main reason for that, but I love to ring the life out of the chamois.

“I am certainly growing up. I will not be getting p----d at the Logies again. I will always have a good time but I need to be more responsible.

“There was a time when I thought I could do anything. It never affected my ability to be a father, but there were times when I thought you could do whatever you want.

“But I don’t think that is now the case …. I don’t have to party all the time, I don’t have to go out drinking all the time, I don’t have to go to the Logies and get p----d every time because I can now enjoy other things in life. I think that is just a course of time.’’

The split, intense paparazzi in interest, and subsequent rumours of who he may or may not be dating rocked Stefanovic to the point where he questioned continuing his role at Today.

“At its worst, when the kids were being papped, I thought, ‘You selfish bastard, you have dragged everyone into this’,’’ he said.

“But alternatively there are great things that come with this job, but it was so bad I just thought why would you want to do this.’’

Despite speculation on possible new girlfriends, Stefanovic said he was not dating anyone.
