Crawford first on Horn’s hopeful hit list

JEFF Horn’s fight with British welterweight Gary “Hellraiser” Corcoran in Brisbane next month has become a $10 million springboard for two superfights in 2018.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says Horn will fight unbeaten American Terrence Crawford in April, with the winner to meet boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in August.

So confident is Arum of Horn winning in Brisbane, he has already reserved T Mobile Arena for April 7 for Horn to make his Las Vegas debut against Crawford, the American with 32 wins from 32 fights.

It’s the same 20,000-seat venue that hosted the Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather super-fight.

Crawford, his trainer and Arum are coming to Australia to be at ringside for Horn-Corcoran on December 13 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

Arum insists that if anyone can stop Crawford, Horn is the man.

“We’ve been analysing it. Crawford is a superior fighter but he started as a lightweight and then junior welterweight,” Arum said.

“He’s not going to be a big welterweight. Horn outsizes him. That was a crucial difference in the Pacquiao fight. Jeff was so much bigger than Manny.

“A guy like Horn who’s aggressive and takes the fight to his opponents is always going to be a very dangerous rival.”
