Lawry to pull up stumps

AUS­TRALIA’S favourite cricket com­men­ta­tor, Bill Lawry, is poised to an­nounce his re­tire­ment from tele­vi­sion broad­cast­ing.

Lawry called the cricket on Chan­nel 9 for al­most 40 years and his in­flu­ence was recog­nised by Chan­nel 7 and Foxtel fol­low­ing cricket’s new $1.2 bil­lion deal.

It was ru­moured Foxtel wanted to bring Lawry, 81, on board in a part-time role.

Lawry cap­tained Aus­tralia and played 67 Tests.
