Get a higher ed­u­ca­tion. Study af­ter study shows that the more years of for­mal ed­u­ca­tion you have, the bet­ter your brain can with­stand the on­slaught of Alzheimer’s. If you can go to uni­ver­sity and be­yond, do it, be­cause the ex­pe­ri­ence is apt to en­rich your life oc­cu­pa­tion­ally, so­cially, emo­tion­ally and in­tel­lec­tu­ally. Pre­vent­ing Alzheimer’s is an un­ex­pected bonus. Con­sider tak­ing adult ed­u­ca­tion cour­ses, con­tinue to learn on the job and en­gage in leisure-time in­tel­lec­tual ac­tiv­i­ties.
