KEEP SUNSCREEN & IN THE CAR... OTHER BEAUTY RULES

Sunday Mail - Body and Soul - - B+S BEAUTY -

There are a few things we do without thinking: breathing, raising our eyebrows when applying mascara and (hopefully) brushing our teeth. Add these other easy daily rituals to your list and you’ll enhance your looks and health.

Keep sunscreen in the car

“New research has shown that car windows enhance the effects of UV exposure in that they seem to concentrate UVA wavelength and intensify it,” says Dr Gabrielle Caswell of Eyra Medical clinics.

“This creates immuno-suppression of some cells, which means less effective repair, increased oxidation, sunspots and pigmentation, elastosis and, finally, skin cancers.”

Keep sunscreen in your car. Make sure it’s a high SPF and offers broad-spectrum protection. Apply it as soon as you get into the car and reapply regularly on long road trips. Double up with fingerless gloves to protect the backs of your hands.

If you’re wearing a low-cut top or your décolletage is on show, apply sunscreen there too.
