You’ve most likely heard

about the benefits of meditation. You’ve also most likely given it a go, couldn’t quiet your mind and never tried it again. I was one of those until a friend, who I’d never picked as a meditator but is dealing with cancer, told me she gets up 10 minutes early, lies on the floor and meditates. She was amazed at the difference it has made. I was inspired and gave it another go. Now, each night after dinner, I shut myself in our spare room, lie on the floor and focus on the breath coming in and out of my nostrils and let thoughts ebb and flow. Do I always manage to get my mind to shut up? No. But I feel good after I do it. It’s a peaceful space in which thoughts aren’t as all-consuming and now, if I skip a night, I really

miss it. So if you’ve tried and not gone back, or never done it at all, give meditation

a go. Don’t worry if your mind won’t slow – just enjoy taking time to breathe. If you need help getting started, turn to page 8 for plenty of useful information. Happy meditating!
