You’ve most likely heard

about the ben­e­fits of med­i­ta­tion. You’ve also most likely given it a go, couldn’t quiet your mind and never tried it again. I was one of those un­til a friend, who I’d never picked as a med­i­ta­tor but is deal­ing with can­cer, told me she gets up 10 min­utes early, lies on the floor and med­i­tates. She was amazed at the dif­fer­ence it has made. I was in­spired and gave it an­other go. Now, each night af­ter din­ner, I shut my­self in our spare room, lie on the floor and fo­cus on the breath coming in and out of my nos­trils and let thoughts ebb and flow. Do I al­ways man­age to get my mind to shut up? No. But I feel good af­ter I do it. It’s a peace­ful space in which thoughts aren’t as all-con­sum­ing and now, if I skip a night, I really

miss it. So if you’ve tried and not gone back, or never done it at all, give med­i­ta­tion
