If you visit the vend­ing ma­chine ev­ery af­ter­noon, here’s a snack that will not only curb crav­ings but could also lead to weight loss: spinach. Swedish sci­en­tists found that a spinach ex­tract, con­tain­ing green leaf mem­branes called thy­lakoids, de­creased crav­ings in 95 per cent of peo­ple, with the added bonus of greater weight loss for 43 per cent. The Lund Univer­sity study showed that drink­ing 5g of spinach ex­tract be­fore break­fast boosted pro­duc­tion of sati­ety hor­mones and sup­pressed crav­ings of junk food.
