Researchers have calculated the secret to a longer life: your waistline measurement should be less than half of your height measurement. A study by London’s City University found the average 178cm man and 163cm woman should have a waist of no more than 89cm and 81cm respectively to stay healthy. If the ratio expands to 80 per cent or more, life expectancy could be reduced by up to 20 years. The authors say this is a more accurate indicator of healthy weight than the BMI.
