There were a lot of dropped jaws in the office this week as we put together our cover story on adoption in Australia. Surely there weren’t only 317 kids adopted into Aussie families last year? Surely it doesn’t take on average five years for an adoption to happen? The answer, sadly, is yes. However, there’s some good news: New research by Adopt Change (a non-profit organisation founded by Deborra-lee Furness) found that the overwhelming majority of us think adoption gives kids a better life and brings joy to a family. Turn to page 6 to find out more about Adopt Change’s campaign to simplify adoption processes. Have a great week.
