El­iz­a­beth Borgo, a di­eti­tian from Nu­tri­tion Aus­tralia Queens­land, agrees: “When you eat a carb-rich food, it’s bro­ken into glu­cose, which en­ters your blood­stream and feeds the mus­cles and brain with en­ergy. There’s strong ev­i­dence that a diet high in whole­grains is linked with lower body mass in­dex and re­duced risk of be­ing over­weight. But not all car­bo­hy­drate-rich foods are cre­ated equal.”
