ADELAIDE United and Socceroos defender Tarek Elrich has established himself as a firm favourite with Reds fans since his move to Coopers Stadium from Western Sydney Wanderers in 2013.

And the popular attacking full-back wrote himself into United history the following year, when his stunning solo goal in a 4-1 win over Melbourne City was voted goal of the year and chosen by many experts as arguably the best goal ever scored in the A-League.

Voted United’s player of the year that season, Elrich went on to star in the Reds side that won the A-League Premier’s Plate and complete the double with a stunning 3-1 Grand Final victory over his old club, Western Sydney, in front of more than 50,000 fans at Adelaide Oval.

Having celebrated his 30th birthday on New Year’s Day, Elrich will be a key figure for United when their Asian Champions League campaign kicks off against Japanese hotshots Gamba Osaka at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday night.
