PETER and Valerie Johnson of Redwood Park have never been overseas before but will be going twice this year thanks to the AFTA Sunday Mail Holiday Expo. The couple visited the 2012 expo and were inspired to book a New Zealand holiday for later this year. They went to the 2013 expo last month for a bit more research – and won the expo’s grand prize of return flights to Paris with Malaysia Airlines, first-class France rail passes to transfer between Paris and Marseilles from Rail Plus, travel insurance from CoverMore and an eight-day escorted Discover Provence tour with Cosmos.
‘‘ We are absolutely thrilled, we were just flabbergasted when we were told we had won,’’ Peter Johnson, 58, said. ‘‘ Neither of us have travelled overseas before and we have just got our passports to go to New Zealand – now we also have this amazing trip to look forward to.
‘‘ We really want to thank AFTA, the Sunday Mail, the sponsors, expo organisers Turnstyles and all involved in this amazing prize.’’
The two-day expo attracted more than 10,000 visitors who gained information and inspiration from more than 150 exhibitors.
