THE op­er­a­tors be­hind Kan­ga­roo Is­land Sail­ing, Ash­ley and Re­nee New­man, have launched Fleurieu Sail­ing with three new tours that take pas­sen­gers to se­cluded beaches and past stun­ning cliffs along the Fleurieu Penin­sula coast­line. Trav­el­ling on­board the lux­ury 21m yacht Lady Eu­ge­nie, peo­ple can choose from a two-hour twi­light sail, a four-hour sail, or a seven-hour scenic sail in­clud­ing morn­ing and af­ter­noon tea. Marine bi­ol­o­gist Re­nee and skip­per Ash­ley have clocked up more than 20,000 nau­ti­cal miles be­tween them. Provence prize

PETER and Va­lerie John­son of Red­wood Park have never been overseas be­fore but will be go­ing twice this year thanks to the AFTA Sun­day Mail Hol­i­day Expo. The cou­ple vis­ited the 2012 expo and were in­spired to book a New Zealand hol­i­day for later this year. They went to the 2013 expo last month for a bit more re­search – and won the expo’s grand prize of re­turn flights to Paris with Malaysia Air­lines, first-class France rail passes to trans­fer be­tween Paris and Mar­seilles from Rail Plus, travel in­surance from CoverMore and an eight-day es­corted Dis­cover Provence tour with Cos­mos.

‘‘ We are ab­so­lutely thrilled, we were just flab­ber­gasted when we were told we had won,’’ Peter John­son, 58, said. ‘‘ Nei­ther of us have trav­elled overseas be­fore and we have just got our pass­ports to go to New Zealand – now we also have this amaz­ing trip to look for­ward to.

‘‘ We really want to thank AFTA, the Sun­day Mail, the spon­sors, expo or­gan­is­ers Turn­styles and all in­volved in this amaz­ing prize.’’

The two-day expo at­tracted more than 10,000 vis­i­tors who gained in­for­ma­tion and in­spi­ra­tion from more than 150 ex­hibitors.

Lox­ton up­grades

THE Lox­ton Ho­tel is cel­e­brat­ing the com­ple­tion of ma­jor ren­o­va­tions to the ho­tel’s Gar­den­view and Riverview mo­tel suites and Re­flec­tions func­tion room.

The $2 mil­lion, year-long re­de­vel­op­ment was sup­ported by an $865,484 as­sis­tance grant from the River­land Sus­tain­able Fu­tures Fund. The grant helped the ho­tel bring for­ward a long-term plan to up­grade the fa­cil­ity as part of Des­ti­na­tion River­land’s plans to re­ju­ve­nate the re­gion’s tourism in­dus­try. Fast flight fun
