Ae­rial view of SA high­lights

AIR Wilpena, the char­ter air­line for Wilpena Pound Re­sort, is host­ing a five-night ae­rial and land­scape pho­tog­ra­phy tour of the Flin­ders Ranges and Lake Eyre re­gions. Pho­tog­ra­pher Peter Elfes will host the tour. His work has been dis­played in the Na­tional Gallery of Aus­tralia, the Pow­er­house Mu­seum, the Mu­seum of Con­tem­po­rary Art and NSW Par­lia­ment House. The tour will run with a min­i­mum of six and a max­i­mum 12 peo­ple and will in­cor­po­rate four nights at Wilpena Pound Re­sort with walking and 4WD tours of the area and work­shops hosted by Elfes. Par­tic­i­pants also will fly to Lake Eyre with an overnight stop at Mar­ree and re­turn via An­damooka. The tour is priced from $4475 a per­son and in­cludes all ac­com­mo­da­tion and meals, all tours and work­shops. Tours are sched­uled for June 4-9 and Oc­to­ber 22-27. Flavours of Fleurieu

FIFTY-FOUR of the Fleurieu Penin­sula’s top food and drink pro­duc­ers, restau­rants, cafes and food tourism op­er­a­tors are in­cluded in the new Shar­ing Fleurieu Flavours guide. The 54, which in­cludes the likes of Alexan­d­rina Cheese, d’Aren­berg Win­ery, Red Poles, McLaren Vale Beer Com­pany and Kan­ga­roo Is­land Sail­ing – were se­lected based on cri­te­ria in­clud­ing the qual­ity and stan­dard of pro­duce of which at least 30 per cent must be sourced from the Fleurieu Penin­sula. The book­let, a snap­shot of the re­gion’s best flavours, from cheese and wine­mak­ers, olive and al­mond pro­duc­ers and butch­ers to cafes, pubs and bou­tique breweries, is avail­able at ho­tels, vis­i­tor in­for­ma­tion cen­tres as well as some ho­tels, cel­lar doors and restau­rants.

Clear quar­an­tine

THE Quar­an­tine Sta­tion has stood in chill­ing iso­la­tion on Tor­rens Is­land since 1880 when it was built to stop pas­sen­gers bring­ing small­pox to Ade­laide. Guided tours on April 6 and 7 will wind through the land­ing and de­con­tam­i­na­tion area, the iso­la­tion hospi­tal, morgue and grave­yard. This site is only ac­ces­si­ble by the SA Mar­itime Mu­seum’s bus tour, tick­ets $25 (no con­ces­sions) which in­cludes en­try to the mu­seum, tours de­part at 10am and 1pm from the mu­seum, closed shoes must be worn. THE Ade­laide Hills is build­ing on its rep­u­ta­tion for high-qual­ity ac­com­mo­da­tion, such as the new 4-star Haus Stu­dio Apart­ments at Hah­n­dorf which is aimed at at­tract­ing high-yield vis­i­tors to the re­gion.
