New era in train travel
TRAVEL aboard Australia’s iconic trains, The Ghan and Indian Pacific, is about to get more exciting.
From April 1, users will enjoy added extras, on and off-train tours included in the fare, making for more memorable journeys.
Rail guestsin Platinum and Gold Service Cabins can immerse themselves more fully with a range of new, all-inclusive tours sharing Australian experiences in style.

Guests will arrive into destinations at times more suitable for exploring and experiencing the region, a Great Southern Rail spokesman said.
Guests will also enjoy an enhanced, onboard experience.
The dining has been re-designed, allowing guests more freedom and flexibility for long lunches and intimate dinners. The new menu will focus on regional produce and tastes, telling the story of the places the trains pass through.
Other enhancements include a personalised check-in and welcome.
Gold Single Cabins on The Ghan and the Indian Pacific will be available for about 10 per cent less than Gold Twin Cabin rates (per person). GSR is also introducing an Advance Purchase fare costing up to 25 per cent less on Gold Service and 10 per cent less on Platinum Service bookings made more than six months before departure.
Already regarded as two of the world’s greatest train journeys, The Ghan and the Indian Pacific will be set apart by their level of hospitality, adventure, discovery and increased value, the GSR spokesman said.
On The Ghan, you can take an Adelaide-Darwin (or vice versa) trip of three-days and two nights for $2290 a person in a private Gold Service, twinshare cabin with en suite.
Travellers will also enjoy off-train tours in Alice Springs and Katherine.
You can travel on the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth (or vice versa) taking four days (three nights), for $2420 a person in Private Gold Service, twin-share cabin with en suite.
Off-train tours in Broken Hill, Adelaide and Kalgoorlie are included in this Indian Pacific trip.
