Epic mountain journey reinvents itself
THE renowned Rocky Mountaineer train service will debut a new route through Canada’s west in August, starting from a US city for the first time.
The rail journey received its seventh World Travel Award for the ‘‘ World’s Leading Travel Experience by Train’’ in 2012 and is now set to depart from the western US port of Seattle this year.
It will be the Rocky Mountaineer’s fifth rail route through Canada’s west and the special rail experience seamlessly connects the cosmopolitan cities of Seattle and Vancouver to the Canadian Rockies. Guests on the train will experience stunning vistas of monumental mountains and the pristine shorelines of the Pacific Northwest coastline on their way to British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies.
The train travels past a lengthy list of extraordinary landscapes, raging rivers, semi-arid deserts and towering mountain peaks. Passengers enjoy this in the comfort of Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf service regarded as being ‘‘ unmatched’’ for luxury, comfort and world-class regional cuisine.
The Coastal Passage route offers four departures in August with the launch of this new route taking place on August 21 from Banff, followed by a departure from Jasper on August 22.
The Seattle departures are on August 24 and 25. Details: Visit www.rockymountaineer.com
