Today Tonight in the news as legal stoush with Matilda looms

Sunday Mail - - CONFIDENTIAL -

APOTENTIAL legal stoush may be on the horizon between Adelaide’s Today Tonight and Queensland-based online media company New Matilda.

New Matilda say that have been served with a legal letter from Today Tonight in response to an article published in March which trashed the local current affairs program, reporter David Richardson and the show’s host Rosanna Mangiarelli.

The letter, published in full on New Matilda during the week along with their response, sees Seven threatening to sue the relatively small media outlet for comments made in the original story. While it’s still not known if Seven are planning to escalate the situation to court, New Matilda say they are ready to put up a fight and have launched a crowd funding campaign to fight the case.

So far, New Matilda have raised almost $5000 in two days of a $25,000 target, which will no doubt only cover a small fraction of potential legal costs.

Seven declined to respond to the Sunday Mail’s request for further comment when contacted yesterday.

VOODOO CHILD: NZ singing star Lorde.

HOST: Rosanna Mangiarelli
