Aussies boss Brazil again

Sunday Mail - - SPORT -

THEY came in their thousands to see the team making waves around the world, and the Matildas didn’t disappoint,

Australia put down another marker on its quest to be among the world’s best, beating Brazil 2-1 in Penrith yesterday after goals to Lisa De Vanna and Sam Kerr.

Even if only a friendly, the result proved again how strong the Australian side has become. In a memorable contest, the Aussies played with power and panache, and fully deserved the victory - the second time in six weeks they have bossed it over Brazil.

The Matildas were determined to show they had earned the nation’s attention the hard way, by mixing it with the world’s best.

Weeks ago Brazil had been eviscerated 6-1 by the Matildas at the Tournament of Nations, but the visitors had a stronger squad and something to prove yesterday.
