AMATEUR golfers are set to turn out in record numbers for the SA Amateur Championships at Blackwood next week.

The field is capacity, with eight male players having to be balloted out of the event. Seventy-three men and 23 women are signed up to play. Leading SA local in the men’s field is Matt Lisk, where 42 players will start with a handicap of scratch or better. 2015 winner Stephanie Bunque is the strongest female hope of a large interstate pack.

And Winx wins again — never in doubt.

Your type of bet, Mr Conservative.

I think of it as short-term superannuation — 20 times in a row.

And what do you call your efforts at Morphettville on a Saturday afternoon — retirement fund for the bookmakers?

I play the long game, much like Rory Sloane.

How is he playing the long game?

Well he missed a week after his surgery just to be safe and now it seems he is back. What a shocking analogy.

I’m just saying the bookies can keep for another day. He was injured.

I’ve been injured at Morphettville a few times. Self-inflicted.

I’m thinking of staring them down next week, the way the Crows stared down GWS.

That will go down well. Why don’t you just perform the haka?

Well, I might just show them that I’m serious.

Why don’t you pretend that you are deep in thought while reading the form guide?

I’ll be doing my form, don’t worry about that. This time of year is normally magic. For you or the bookies?

Ask me after the spring carnival is over. I’m building up my winnings until then.

Good luck. You’ll need it.
