Deliberate church fire
A CHURCH at Murray Bridge has sustained about $50,000 damage in a deliberately lit fire.
Police say officers first noticed several small fires in garden beds near the intersection of West Tce and Second St, at 2.40am yesterday.
They then noticed a larger fire at the nearby church.
Metropolitan Fire Service crews extinguished the blaze.
Police believe the fire was started in a wheelie bin, which was put up against a wall.
The fire spread into the roof of the church and caused about $50,000 damage.
Forensic investigators attended the crime scene to collect evidence.
Police ask anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
