Hot potato for fans but Wiggles duo still close
THEY are going through one of the country’s most high profile and public divorces, but for Lachy Gillespie and Emma Watkins, it’s business as usual.
With a world-wide famous children’s brand to sell and a mega five-year contract in place, the former Wiggles power couple are putting on a united front and have reiterated that their fans come first.
The popular pair were sighted looking affectionate and relaxed together while grabbing an ice-cream in Townsville on Friday, where The Wiggles are currently performing.
“They still have a wonderful friendship; they have always been the best of friends and they’re in a good place,” a close friend told the Sunday Mail.
“Their priority right now is the tour and giving their fans the best show possible.”
Yellow Wiggle Emma, 28, and Purple Wiggle Lachy, 32, were one of Australia’s most treasured couple’s after they fell for one another while working together in The Wiggles. The pair married in a traditional Scottish ceremony at Hopewood House, Bowral, NSW, in April 2016.
According to those close to the pair, not much has changed since they separated eight months ago. They continue to do yoga together and dine as a team post- show.
In August, the yellow and purple Wiggle announced the end of their relationship after just two years of marriage.
At the time, they released a statement which read: “We continue to share the most beautiful life together, but we wanted to let you know that, privately, for the last six months we have been navigating through a trial separation, and we have made the decision to separate as a couple.”
“We have chosen a different path to travel in our personal lives, but please know that we are stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see you at a show soon.”
The Wiggles are at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on November 24-25.
