Drugs lab found at winery
A WINEMAKER will face court tomorrow charged over a secret drugs lab allegedly discovered on his southern suburbs property.
Detectives swooped on Rocky Ridge Wines, on Plains Rd, at Sellicks Hill on Friday.
During the raid, police allegedly uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in a shed, found a short distance from a public wine tasting area.
Officers continued searching the premises yesterday and seized various drug-related items and a sawn-off shotgun.
Detectives arrested a man, 54, at the property.
Company records show a director of the vineyard is Kenneth John Baker.
Neighbours told yesterday of their collective shock at his arrest.
Baker, of Sellicks Hill, was charged with various offences including manufacturing a controlled drug, possess a prescribed firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm.
He was formally refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.
