SOUTH Aus­tralian com­mu­nity sport farewelled one of its finest ser­vants when Hank Mid­dle­ton was laid to rest at Plymp­ton Angli­can Church on Wed­nes­day.

Mid­dle­ton was a revered fig­ure at the Happy Val­ley Foot­ball Club, where was head trainer for 25 years. Dur­ing that pe­riod he led the way in the treat­ment of con­cus­sion for foot­ballers and reg­u­larly de­liv­ered ex­pert ad­vice to train­ers at other clubs in the South­ern Foot­ball League.

Mid­dle­ton was also a life mem­ber at the Sturt Cricket Club for his ded­i­cated ser­vice as the A grade scorer.
