Sunday Mail - - NEWS - MATT GILBERTSON

MUSICAL theatre fans in Adelaide have had their wishes granted ever since it was announced that Disney’s Aladdin would light up the Festival Theatre next year.

Now, after a long wait, tickets are finally going on sale tomorrow.

The show’s stars – Graeme Isaako, who takes on the title role, his Princess Jasmine, Shubshri Kandiah, and Gareth Jacobs, who plays the Genie – were in town this week to promote the 2019 SA season and say they can’t wait to explore our city.

“I love knowing that the arts community here is so vibrant and I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” Jacobs says. “A cooking class with Maggie Beer is at the top of my Adelaide wish list.”

More than six million people worldwide have seen the Broadway spectacular Aladdin. It will be the first large-scale musical Disney has brought to Adelaide. The production boasts 337 lavish costumes, complete with 500,000 Swarovski crystals.

Isaako says it’s important the actors stay at the top of their game. “This includes essential rest, getting out and exercising in the fresh air … I try to get to the gym five times a week,” he says.

Kandiah, who loves to “be a Princess every day’’, is looking forward to refuelling with eats from Adelaide Central Market.
