Best to go Gently

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Television - BRITTANY STACK Inspector George Gently, ABC1, Sunday, 8.30pm

FANS get excited – Inspector George Gently is back for a third season.

The talented Martin Shaw returns as our hero detective for this two-part, feature-length series kicking off tonight.

Set in the 1960s and based on the Inspector Gently novels by Alan Hunter, this series also stars Cole Sims as the delectable darts player, Simon Hart as a hippie teenage heart-throb, Lee Ingleby as Detective Sergeant John Bacchus, and Simon Hubbard as PC Taylor, who mans the front desk at the police station.

In this all-new episode, a young mother is found murdered and Gently and Bacchus ( both pictured) suspect the estranged husband.

But the deeper the investigation digs, the more disturbing the secrets surrounding this woman’s family become.

More intriguing is the dynamic between Gently and his sidekick Bacchus, who is struggling with how close his boss has become to his wife and child.

A great movie-length case of whodunit to tune in to on a cold Sunday night.
