IT may look like a cartoon, have a family rating and contain a tonne of goofy goings-on, but Rango is definitely one grown-up animated feature. It follows a domesticated chameleon with a penchant for theatrics who finds himself out of his tank and in the desert helping a troubled township by serving as its sheriff. Sounds kiddie, but it’s a sophisticated spaghetti western ode that’s visually stunning, surreal and wonderfully weird.

Extras: ★★½ An extended cut of the film accompanies the theatrical version and there’s a selection of deleted scenes.
