and a fast pace

RIDICULOUS action, high octane thrills and enough Hollywood hotties to fill a couple of franchises, this blast of an action film series continues to be as mindlessly entertaining as it is daftly satisfying. This fifth instalment finds the team of petrol heads, led by former cop Brian O’Connor ( Paul Walker) and career crim Dom ( Vin Diesel), again on the wrong side of the law and holed up in Rio.

It’s here they become involved in a job that goes bad and they’re forced to confront a dangerous crime boss who wants them dead, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a relentless federal agent ( The Rock) who’ll stop at nothing to bring the gang in.

With all its heist dramas, fisticuffs, gun play and high speed mayhem, numero five is definitely numero two in the franchise pecking order and, while there’s a little too much time spent out from behind the wheel, the film’s action sequences, including some wild bookends, don’t disappoint.
