Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Television - ROSIE SQUIRES

WHERE were you when the Twin Towers fell?

A decade after the terrorist attack on New York’s World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, director Jim Whitaker looks at the slow and emotional journey of healing.

The powerful, movie-length documentary was filmed over 10 years, capturing the lives of survivors who were shaken by the 9/ 11 attacks.

We witness the progress of a student whose mother perished, a widow of a first responder, a woman who survived above the impact zone, and a fire-fighter who lost his closest friends.

Their stories are intertwined with chilling real footage and amazing timelapse-photography of the construction of the new World Trade Center at Ground Zero.

The documentary offers an insight into the effects of trauma and grief on the human spirit.

We learn, despite the odds, that with time wounds can heal. And from the ashes there is rebirth.
