One notch above oblivion

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Eguide Movies - LEIGH PAATSCH whatsyournumber

Looking for more of that clever, chick-flickerly raunch that made you love Bridesmaids so?

You’re probably thinking What’s Your Number? is where you’re gonna find it, yeah? Got two words for you. As. If. This is not to say this gratingly sub-par rom-com does not have plenty in common with Bridesmaids. Quite the contrary.

Get a load of the lead character, Ally ( Anna Faris).

Like Kristen Wiig’s Annie in Bridesmaids, Ally’s self-esteem is on get-a-life support. She has a featured role in an upcoming wedding, which has Ally all skittish about the future and stuff.

Ally has lost her job and has a wacky hobby that just might be a future career opportunity.

Oh, and she has such a blind spot when it comes to men, she keeps overlooking the blindingly obvious Mr Right living right across the hall ( Captain America himself, Chris Evans).

Original, huh? Well, this old rope is slightly more bearable than the new-ish twist yanking the plot along to oblivion.

Ally is very worried by a magazine article that any woman who notches 20 men on her bedpost will never get married. Her current tally sits on 19. Pssssst again! Bridesmaids will be out on DVD by Christmas. Now showing Village Cinemas
