THE TEMPEST

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Dvds -

Director Julie Taymor brings a new spin to Shakespeare’s magical epic play with only limited success and, despite the effort, only limited appeal to its style. It follows a female alchemist and her daughter who are banished to a deserted island, where they live for years until an opportunity to get revenge on their banishers presents itself. Lots going on in this tough- to- follow genre blend, which borders on the tedious.

Audio commentaries – one directorial, the other featuring a couple of bard buffs – rehearsal footage of co- star Russell Brand riffing, lengthy making- of and music vid.
