Bad boy buddies

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Dvds -

IF A horror film franchise can reuse its core idea time and again to slash, maim and entertain, then surely a bawdy, high- concept comedy such as The Hangover can squeeze a couple of flicks worth of crazy fun out before it becomes stale – right? You bet. Essentially the same movie reworked, the Hangover Part II finds the ‘‘ wolf pack’’ – mates Phil ( Bradley Cooper), Stu ( Ed Helms) and Allan ( Zach Galifianakis) – returning to their hungover ways, this time while in Thailand for Stu’s wedding. A boozefuelled bender in Bangkok has resulted in the misplacing of Stu’s teenage soon- to- be bro’- in- law. Now they have to find him. The different details ensure a little freshness to the original comedy mystery formula and if you laughed at and loved the first, you should get the same buzz again. Extras: Not an embarrassment of special- feature riches are included in the BD combo pack, but there are featurettes with the cast chattering about Todd Phillips’ comedic vision and the film’s smoking, drug- dealing monkey, plus a location tour and gag reel. NOT VIEWED.
