You have to admire Italian horror master Dario Argento and his commitment to the genre, even if he has to look in his rear- view mirror to see his best works. This serial killer thriller follows a sadistic so- and- so who likes capturing and doing unspeakable things to pretty women, and becomes the obsession of Adrien Brody’s gloomy copper character. While there is the odd scene that promises a better film, the scripting is weak and it’s more akin to modern Hollywood gornos than the arty ‘‘ Giallo’’ horror sub- genre he made famous.
