All about fun and learning.

IN 2011, the ipad was named by PC World as the children’s toy of the year, but it’s not only ipad that grabs kids’ attentions.

Every device with an app capacity can provide a world of wonder to our wee ones.

You may source apps that are useful, practical and simplify your tech life, but there’s a new market in apps for kids that are all about fun and learning.

Apps designed for kids are designed for a variety of purposes; from ebooks to educational games, science quizzes to language courses, tech- savvy kids have a lot to learn from their smartphones.

Whether you’re stuck in line at the grocery store or going on a long car trip some place, there are a variety of options to entertain little ones with free or cheap iphone and Android apps and games available catering to toddlers, preschoolers and big kids too.

Apps are a fascinating new medium for education in the lives of our future generations. They will not replace books, television or the internet but they will provide an easily accessible and new avenue for enjoyable learning.

It’s a brave new world of technology and kids are ‘‘ digital natives’’, at the forefront of adaptability.

Encourage them with some fun and games for iphone, ipad, ipod Touch and Android devices.
