Heston gets back to basics
WHO knew cooking a chook was so involved?
According to gastronomic genius Heston Blumenthal, we’re all afraid of undercooking the world’s most popular bird and compensate by frying or baking until it resembles leather.
Determined to change our chicken- eating ways, Blumenthal ( pictured) will demonstrate handy tips and tricks to serve up the most tender roast chook in his new series that focuses on the basics.
Unlike previous Blumenthal shows, this one forsakes epicurean feats for the more modest aim of showing home cooks how to master a single but essential ingredient.
Blumenthal is the great magician of the kitchen. He also has a wonderfully fresh sense of humour, which belies any sense of preciousness that his stature as one of the world’s most revered chefs might suggest.
Combine those qualities with what is possibly the most gorgeous photography in the cookingshow genre and you have the winning features of this enjoyable six- part series.
