Full- throttle fun guarantee
THE physics- based motorbike racer, Trials Evolution, is the successor to one of the best- selling Xbox Live Arcade downloadable games of all time, Trials HD.
This follow- up delivers much the same thrills and spills fans have come to enjoy, though with much bigger and varied tracks, enhanced customisation options, online competitive modes, and an in- depth track creator.
Like its predecessor, Trials Evolution requires you to complete tracks in a progressive order to unlock newer and more difficult levels and, in doing so, also earns you new licence classes and bikes.
Cash is also earned along the way which can be spent on various accessories to customise the look of the bike and the rider, though, these are mostly superficial and do little to help your overall performance.
A challenging new gameplay addition is the tournaments. These involve the same maps as the standard racing, only in this mode your time and crashes carry over from one event to the next.
The new Skill Circus makes for an amusing distraction. This is full of quirkier challenges, such as completing the bike tracks on snow skies or seeing how far you can fly with wooden planks strapped to your arms.
The biggest new addition is the level editor, which essentially gives you the same creation tools and editing options as the game’s creator, Redlynx.
Local and online racing for up to four players is a welcome new addition, with several race types. This exciting points- based racing isn’t just about crossing the finishing line first, as you also lose points for crashing.
Additions aside, the core gameplay, which simply challenges you to stay on a bike while completing obstacleriddled courses, offers some of the best fun you can have on two wheels.
With Trials Revolution already breaking launch- day sales records, it’s shaping up as the next Xbox Live top- seller.
