Sons of Anarchy changes lanes

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Television - DEBBIE SCHIPP SONS OF ANARCHY, TDT, Monday, 9.30pm

CHANNEL 10, it seems, is banking on bikies this week, with new drama Bikie Wars premiering on Tuesday, and the longawaited season three of US hit series Sons of Anarchy, previously screened on ONE HD, airing here tomorrow night on TDT.

In the US, the third season of the series attracted an average of 4.9 million viewers per week, making it FX’S highest rated series ever, surpassing FX’S other hits The Shield, Nip/ Tuck, and Rescue Me.

Season four of Sons is currently playing out on Foxtel, but for those yet to taste Sons’ brutal brand of drama, think Sopranos, with bikies.

For the uninitiated, Sons is based on the lives of a close- knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in the Central Valley of Northern California.

The show centres on protagonist Jackson ‘‘ Jax’’ Teller ( Charlie Hunnam), the Vice President of the club who begins questioning the club and himself.

For the already converted, tonight’s season three opener sees Jax and the club reeling from the kidnapping of Jax’s son, Abel.

While Jax’s mother Gemma gets hit with some unexpected news from her past.
