A QUICK look at his audition history and anybody would think Tyler Posey has an obsession with werewolves.
The 20- year- old tried out for the part of Jacob in the movie blockbuster Twilight, losing out to Taylor Lautner, before going up for the gig of schoolboy- turned- werewolf Scott McCall in the TV re- creation of 1985 movie Teen Wolf.
‘‘ I don’t have an obsession for werewolves. I have an obsession for acting and doing cool projects and that’s where that comes into play,’’ he says.
While Posey missed out on the movie franchise, he was successful in Teen Wolf and describes playing a lycanthrope as ‘‘ a really cool experience’’.
‘‘ It’s cool because it’s this thing that not many people tackle,’’ he says. ‘‘ It’s a myth and a legend so you get to do whatever you want with it.’’
Making the role even more exciting for the actor is the stunt work involved in series two of the show.
In series one, which aired last year on both Southern Cross and FOX8, Posey’s shy, schoolboy character Scott had only just been transformed into a werewolf and spent much of the season in denial about his new shape- shifting abilities.
But Posey says all that’s about to change in season two.
‘‘ The first season he was soft, and kind of this annoying kid,’’ Posey says with a laugh.
‘‘ But this season he’s taken on a different role and it’s become a lot more hardcore, I guess.’’
As well as getting to grips with his powers, season two also sees Scott continue his secret relationship with Allison ( Crystal Reed), who comes from a family of werewolf hunters.
