Molloy in form

with MICK MOLLOY

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Television - COLIN VICKERY

HE’S not in the hosting chair, but comedian Mick Molloy has proved crucial to the success of laidback Aussie rules show Before the Game. Molloy will need to maintain that form if the show is to draw a big audience in its new Thursday timeslot.

Q. How do you feel about Before the Game going from Saturday to Thursday nights?

A. It’s a double win. We’re moving into prime time and I’ll be able to get out and go to the footy on Saturdays again.

Q. Do you think there is any rivalry between your show and The Footy Show on WIN?

A. Not at all, you can’t talk too much footy in this town. We do however have a fierce rivalry with Ready, Steady Cook I’d love to go head- to- head with those guys.

Q. You work along side original Footy Show host Eddie Mcguire on Triple M. What was his reaction to the move?

A. He was just surprised to learn that there are now two shows going around on prime- time TV that he isn’t hosting.

Q. Your passion for Richmond is well known and the team is on a roll. How far can they go this season?

A. I’m really hoping they’ll win it because I’ve taken a rather large bet at very nice odds that they are going back- to- back this year and next.

Q. What do you reckon about Ivan Maric’s mullet?

A. It’s become so important to the team I reckon we should employ Edward Beale as a runner to keep it in perfect condition.

Q. Had any weird dreams about Jack Riewoldt?

A. Not that I can relate here. This is a family newspaper, isn’t it? Q. Discuss Andrew Maher’s dress sense. A. Nerdy chic. So very 1950s. Q. You’ve just announced you’re to become a dad. Are you going to force your kids to become Tigers fans?

A. Yes, unfortunately there’s going to be a lifetime of pain and suffering under the father- son rule. BEFORE THE GAME TDT, Thursday, 8.30pm
